Hi everyone! In this post, I will share some of my favorite musical theater songs.
1. "When I Grow Up"
I think everyone watched "Matilda" as a child and afterward spend hours trying to move things with your mind.
I loved that movie and when I found out there was a musical I freaked out.
All of the songs in the soundtrack are amazing but "When I Grow Up" is one of my favorites. It's just so cute and fun that you can't not like it.
2. "Defying Gravity"
When I was a kid I hated musicals, and when I say that I mean that I screamed at the screen while watching "Backyardigans" "Stop singing!". I know, it was bad. That was until I watched "Wicked".
I remember that the last song in the first act was "Defying Gravity" and felt something that I can't even explain.
As cringy as it sounds, it was magical. I was just blown away and that was the moment I fell in love with musical theater.
So this one has a special part in my heart and is one of my favorite songs ever.
3. "The Negative"
I love "Waitress", it's one of my favorite musicals.
I have been listening to the soundtrack non-stop for the last few months and although I love "She Used To Me Mine", "When He Sees Me" and "I Love You Like a Table" are great, "The Negative" always makes me super happy and it hasn't got the same attention as the other ones.
So I recommend the whole soundtrack, but "The Negative" deserves more love.
4. "I Dreamed a Dream"
"Les Misérables" is maybe my favorite musical. All of the songs are amazing but I think this one is probably my top one.
I love the lyrics and how you can feel the emotion through her voice. I just love everything about this song.
5. "Audition (The fools who dream)"
I love "La La Land" and "Someone in the Crowd" is amazing, but just like "The Negative," I think this one deserves more love.
The lyrics are incredible and the scene in the movie is so beautiful.
6. Dead Mom
"Beetlejuice" is such a great show, and I'm really sad that it has closed. Lydia is an amazing, complex and relatable character, and Sophia plays her so well. You can feel the emotions through her voice.
7. Waving through a window
As any musical theater kid, I love "Dear Evan Hansen" and this song just my go-to when singing in the shower. It's one of those songs that make you sing super loud, but also cry like a baby.
8. Candy Store
"Heathers" is one of my favorite musicals, the soundtrack, the costumes, the story, everything is breathtaking. It's just so different from anything I have ever seen/listened to.
9. If Only You Would Listen
I was able to see "School Of Rock: The Musical" and I was shocked by how good it was. Listening to a bunch of little kids sing this sad and emotional song is something that I can't explain and will always remember.
10. The World According To Chris
I had heard of "Carrie" multiple times, but I'm terrified of horror movies, so I didn't even consider watching it. But, after a while, I decided to try, and I really liked it. I watched two of the movies and the musical and was very impressed. So, if you haven't, go watch it!
There are so many other songs that I love, but I tried to make this list as short as possible, so they didn't make it.
Now I wanna know, what are your favorite songs? Comment down below.
Bye!
