How to sing better

/How to get better at singing/musical theatre/musicals/

Hi lovebug! I hope you're having an amazing day! In this post, I will share some tips on how to sing better for all of the theater kids out there, or just people who want to sing better.

Since I was little I loved to sing. I would go around the house singing and dancing like the kitchen was my stage. But I only started to be in chorus groups when I was seven.

I loved to sing with other people and learned so much with my first teacher! Since then I have had other singing teachers who taught me a lot of cool tips and tricks. And now I am going to share these tips, hope you enjoy!

1 Yawn

I have a really deep voice, so it can be hard sometimes to achieve high notes.

And my musical theater teacher gave me an amazing tip to help me with that.

It's weird but it works.

So, first, you yawn and try to pay attention to how your mouth moves when you do it. That's how you're mouth should be when you're singing high notes.

If you didn't felt anything, try again but with your hand on your neck.

If you're not sure how it should be feeling, it kind of feels like your mouth it's getting bigger and the back of your mouth is going up.

After you feel that, try to sing high notes with mouth open like you're yawning.

In the beginning, it's weird and hard, but I promise it will get better.

2 Forget everybody else

When I was younger I was convinced that I would never reach high notes, so I wouldn't even try.

I was ashamed because my voice wasn't the way that I wanted it to be. So, whenever I was singing, I would feel embarrassed and not give my best.

It took me a long time to be able to just let go and sing.

You have to remember that the best way to do it is to just do it. So what that your neighbor stares, or your brother thinks it's annoying, you'll only get good at singing if you practice?

Don't be ashamed to sing and most important don't convince yourself that you can't do it.

You've got this!

3 Have a Goal

I believe that you should have a goal for everything, including singing.

You can have an ultimate goal, like being on Broadway or winning and Emmy, dream big on this one, and other little ones, like being able to sing this specific song or get a solo.

Plan your months so then each one of them you have a mini-goal. It can be reaching a note, memorizing a song, being more confident singing, whatever.

This way you can stay focused and remember that all of this would be worth it.

There will be hard times when you feel like it will all be for nothing, and that is where your goals come in, they will inspire you and motivate you.

4 Watch videos or get a teacher

If you can't join a glee club or a musical theater club, look up videos on Youtube.

This way you will do it with the help of professionals.

Singing is no joke, and it can mess up your voice. So you have to be careful with the way that you are doing it.

Plus having a teacher to tell you the things you're doing wrong and how to fix them is SUPER helpful.

But again, you can use Youtube if you can't find a teacher.

5 Warm-up

This serious. You can destroy your voice if you don't warm up before singing.

If you don't know how to warm up look it up on Youtube or comment down below so I can make a post about it.

You don't have to do it for long, 10 or 15 minutes is enough.

Just remember that if you feel your through itching STOP! Please don't keep doing it!

Stop and do another exercise and try again another day.

Seriously, this is really harmful to your voice.

Those were my tips! I hope you liked them and that they helped you. Comment down below some of your tips and if I should make a post on how to warm up.

Thanks for reading, bye!
