Hi everyone! I hope that you are having a great day!
I love listening to new musicals.
And, honestly, some of them are quite repetitive. Don't get me wrong, I love musical theater, but some soundtracks aren't that good coff coff Six.
So I wanted to share some soundtracks that I love and don't see many people talking about.
Disclaimer: everything in this post is my opinion, and it's fine for you to disagree with them. We all like different things.
Urinetown
I love this soundtrack sooo much!
This musical is about a town that doesn't have a lot of water. Because of that, the citizens need to pay to go to the bathroom.
So, the people who live there start a revolution so they need to do that anymore.
The songs are amazing and I love the message that it brings.
I especially recommend this if you are into sustainability or want to live a more sustainable life.
It's so different from anything I have ever heard and the story is super unique too.
Betty Blue Eyes
"Betty Blue Eyes" is a super cute musical.
The songs are super fun and always cheer me up.
It's also a British show so they have British accents which is a HUGE bonus.
It's also great if you have kids.
There is one song called "Nobody" that is perfect for auditions.
Parade
I love the songs on this album.
My favorites are "The Factory Girls/Come Up To My Office" and "You Don't Know This Man". The last is a super dramatic beautiful song that is also great for auditions.
It talks about justice, revolutions, and death, so if you are into that type of dramatic and you will definably cry with it it's a great fit for you!
Something Rotten
I love this show.
It's super funny and fun to listen to.
It's basically a musical about musicals.
There is also an amazing song called "Right Hand Man" that reminds me of something Carmen Miranda would sing. It's super cheerful and always makes me happy.
Fun Home
"Fun Home" is about a queer girl and her dad. I love that it has LGBTQIA+ representation because it's something that's not common in musical theater.
My favorite songs are "Ring of Keys" and "Changing My Major", which is another great audition song.
It talks about being gay, suicide, and relationships with parents.
Honk
"Honk" is a musical that tells the story of the ugly duckling.
It's great if you have kids and is tired of hearing "Baby Shark" all day.
I love the songs and how you can feel the actors' emotions through them.
My favorite songs "Hold Your Head Up High", "Every Tear a Mother Cries" and "The Job of Motherhood"
it's a cute soundtrack when you are bored.
Bat Boy
I know "Bat Boy" was popular when it came up. But I don't see a lot of people talking about it now.
It's a show about a boy who is a bat, I know, shocking.
It talks about love and acceptance is just a beautiful show.
My favorite song is "Inside Your Heart" which is a song that I'm obsessed with right now.
The original cast recording also has Kerry Butler who plays Barb in "Beetlejuice" in Broadway. So, if you are a "Beetlejuice" fan you should definitely listen to it.
And that's it! I hope you liked this post!
Comment down below what's a show more people knew about? I would love to know!
Bye!
