5 Tips for Performers

Hi everyone! I hope that you are having a great day!

I always loved to perform. When I was little I would make little presentations where I would sing, dance, or whatever!

It was/is a way to express myself, and it's also fun!

So I wanted to help any performers by making this list of things I have learned/been taught about performing.

  • Truth

As I have said in my "Things Every Actor Should Know About Acting On Stage", which you can find here: https://lelegmorais.wixsite.com/mysite-2/post/things-every-actor-should-know-about-acting-on-stage , I thought that acting was about lying.

But, over the years I realized that acting isn't about lying, but rather finding your truth in somebody else's.

Rather you are dancing, singing, or even acting you should always find a way to bring yourself to the stage.

A good performer is someone who can bring truth, who can tell a story.

  • Practice

I know this seems obvious, however, it's something that I'm constantly working on.

I am a very lazy person, I always leave things for the last minute or don't do them at all.

So it can be hard for me to stay focused and practice.

But it is necessary, we need to practice to be better performers.

So, although it's hard and tiring, practicing is essential.

  • Instincts

As a performer, we must follow our instincts.

Even if your idea seems stupid, or wrong, go for it!

I promise that it will make watching you 10 times more enjoyable.

It will also make you stand out, make people remember who you are.

So if you any crazy instincts, don't hesitate and go for it!

  • Audience

I have also talked about this in my "Things Every Actor Should Know About Acting On Stage", but you must build a relationship with the audience.

This may be looking at them at times, being relatable, or letting them feel what you are feeling.

The audience needs to see themselves in you.

They need to feel like they are a part of the show.

  • Do your best

This sounds very cheesy, but doing your best is one of the most important things when it comes to performing.

Doing your best will also make you feel more confident, which is super important.

Performing is about trying new things and pushing yourself further.

I hope this post helped you if it did make sure to comment, like, and share!
